Chocolate Cake Recipe

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes, then stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. While the cakes are cooling, prepare the chocolate frosting. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  8. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with the heavy cream or milk, beating well after each addition.
  9. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Beat the frosting on high speed until light and fluffy.
  10. Once the cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one cake layer with a generous amount of chocolate frosting. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  11. Decorate the cake as desired, then slice and serve.

Enjoy your homemade chocolate cake! It’s perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or any time you’re in need of a sweet treat.
