Soft apple cake with walnuts: the recipe for an easy and fragrant dessert

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease and flour a round or square baking pan.
  2. Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into thin slices. Set them aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the melted butter to the egg and sugar mixture and mix well.
  5. Sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt into the bowl with the egg and sugar mixture. Mix until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  6. Add the chopped walnuts to the dough and mix gently.
  7. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan and level it with a spatula.
  8. Arrange the apple slices evenly on the surface of the dough in the pan.
  9. Pour the rest of the mixture over the apples and level it with the spatula.
  10. Spread the remaining apple slices over the top of the dough.
  11. Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  13. Once cooled, dust the cake with icing sugar if desired.
  14. Cut the cake into slices and serve it as a dessert or snack.
